Welcome to Kew

Kew is a charming village, nestled on the south banks of the River Thames, famed for its Royal Botanic Gardens. The bustling centre of Kew can be found around the Kew Gardens Underground Station, where there is a little triangle of boutiques, restaurants and cafes provides a bustling village atmosphere. Kew Green on the edge of the River Thames, with its Cricket Pitch, pond and church, adds to the areas rural charm and character.

The Royal Botanic Gardens, also known as Kew Gardens, houses the largest and most diverse botanical and mycological collections in the world. Founded in 1840, Kew Gardens owes its heritage to its royal residents and remains home to Kew Palace. The Great Pogoda, erected in 1762, is a local landmark overlooking the area and adding to the areas already tranquil charm.

Transport is well served from Kew Gardens Station, providing both London Overground services to North London and London Underground services on the District Line, connecting the area with the West End of London. Kew Bridge Railway station, located on the opposite side of Kew Bridge, offers rail services to and from London Waterloo. Kew is well connected for the motorist with a plethora of routes including the nearby A4, A316 and M4 motorway providing access to London and South East England.

Kew's regal history has contributed to the areas charming architecture. There are fine Georgian houses on Kew Green and along Kew Road, small Victorian cottages off Kew Green and in Sandycombe Road, and Victorian and Edwardian terrace, semi-detached and detached houses including some very large double-fronted family homes. Scattered among all this period property are large blocks of Thirties flats and Sixties townhouses and flats. On the river near the National Archives, there are modern houses and flats in two large new riverside developments.
