Welcome to Richmond upon Thames

Richmond upon Thames, known as Richmond and located on a beautiful stretch of the meandering River Thames, is the principle town in the local authority of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Although a riverside village had existed since Saxon times, it was not until King Henry VII built himself Richmond Palace, where Richmond derived its name and established itself as a town. Whilst nothing much remains of the Palace, the area has blossomed to become one of the most desirable pockets of South West London. With its delightful river views, glorious Royal Park and a thriving town centre, Richmond has become a magnet for young professionals, families with children, not to mention the rich and famous.

The view over the River from the top of Richmond Hill makes the area one of London's most celebrated beauty spots, as a scene which has hardly changed in over 300 years. Other Famous views in Richmond include the view from King Henry's Mount in Richmond Park, where a hole in the hedge line presents an uninterrupted view of St Paul's Cathedral on a clear day.

Transport in Richmond is primarily served by Richmond Station which provides London Underground, London Overground and National Rail services across London and the South East of England. There are a variety of bus routes in and around the centre and surrounding area of Richmond. By car, Richmond is well connected with the A316 connecting the area at Richmond Circus for routes in and out of London.

Some of the most desirable properties are located around The Green in the centre of Richmond, where there are some beautiful Georgian houses overlooking a large open are of tree lined green space close to the river. Richmond Hill, especially properties with uninterrupted views of the River Thames, are some of the most sought after in the area. Surrounding areas such as Montague Road, Park Road, Mount Ararat Road, Onslow Road and the tree lined thirties semi-detached houses in the ladder of roads between Tangier Road and Upper Richmond Road are becoming increasing popular with families. The most popular starter homes are found in the thirties blocks such as Lichfield Court in the heart of Richmond town centre.

Families are drawn to properties in the surrounding areas of Montague Road, Park Road, Mount Ararat Road and Onslow Road.
