Welcome to Surbiton

Surbiton is found in the south-west of London within the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. Located on the Thames, the area is 11 miles from the heart of London and became part of Greater London back in 1965, after the 1963 London Government Act was introduced. Surbiton was born out of a tale of skulduggery in the 1830's when powerful interests defending nearby Kingston's coaching and innkeeping trades successfully opposed the arrival of the railway. As a result, a station was opened some distance to the south in what would become the nucleus of an early commuter town, leaving a legacy of Victorian villas n and around Claremont Road and more notably in the Crescent. Surbiton sits on the south side of the Thames with its much-larger neighbour Kingston upon Thames to the north, Tolworth to the east, Chessington to the south and Thames Ditton to the west. Surbiton can also offer low crime-rates in a market town environment and an atmosphere that seems complementary to raising a family.

Transport in Surbiton is primarily served by trains to and from Surbiton Railway Station, which provides connections to Waterloo station in London, Surrey and Hampshire. The quick commute to London Waterloo, with journeys taking as little as 18 minutes, is faster than some districts more central to London. Surbiton is also well served by London Buses, with a number of routes connecting the area to the rest of the local region and the capital. The motorist is conveniently served by the nearby A3 for routes between the in and out of London, Surrey and Hampshire.

Residents are offered a true mix of properties in Surbiton, with something to suit most tastes. The centre has early Victorian villas and cottages, large mid-Victorian terrace houses and Art Deco and modern blocks of flats, some of which overlook the river. In Southborough, south of the town centre, there are large detached houses in leafy suburban roads including the most sought-after of Corkran Road, Langley Avenue and Ashcombe Avenue. In the Berrylands neighbourhood, which has its own train station, there are streets of detached and semi-detached Thirties houses in Manor Crescent, Pine Gardens and Pine Walk and a group of Art Deco houses in Grand Avenue and Elmbridge Avenue. Crescent Court in the Crescent in the town centre is an attractive Art Deco block of flats. The pretty roads known as the "river roads" between Portsmouth Road and Maple Road. The wide range of properties on offer in Surbiton, make the area a real hidden gem with easy commuting options and a delightful range of properties. Located a short distance from nearby hustle and bustle of Kingston upon Thames, Surbiton offers a tranquil escape maintaining a real sense of community spirit, hosting a variety of local events throughout the year including its renowned monthly farmers market, coupled with fantastic commuting options in and out of London and Surrey
