Winter Home 2017 Style Tips

  17 Nov 2017

When it comes to winter, there is a great deal to be said for giving your home a fresh look and it may be that you want to avoid going overboard on the festive appearance. A lot of people love the glitz and glitter associated with Christmas decorations but they are not for everyone. Thankfully, there is a range of winter home 2017 style tips that allow you to give your property a fresh new look while still being very much on trend for the season.

One trend that is heavily tipped for this year is colour blocking and this is ideal if you cannot decide on a single colour to use in a room. The key to this style is to use a few contrasting shades together, and this will create a strong visual impact in your home. A simple approach to this style would be to keep your floor white, add grey as another main colour to have a neutral style and then use a few colours sparingly around the room. This should create a unique style that grabs attention but isn’t too overpowering in any element or area.

Add some colour to your home this winter

Of course, it may be that you would rather just focus on a single colour and there are some colours that are tipped to be on trend this winter. Teal is a colour that works well with many options and it can create a fresh and bright style. Given that teal blends between green and blue very well, it can be a good option to use alongside these colours but it is a colour that contrasts well against many colours. Teal naturally works well with white, black and grey so no matter the overall style you have in your room, you should be able to add some teal without making it look out of place.

Another colour option that is very popular for winter 2017 is emerald green. This is a very rich and dark colour that ties in with nature and the outdoors. Emerald green is a deep option that can provide the platform to allow brighter colours to grab even more attention or it can be an excellent colour for pillows, cushions and throws in order to create a different sense of style in a room.

Nature is back in the winter of 2017

A trend that has been popular in the second half of 2017, and is set to continue into the New Year, is the addition of nature to a room or home. Natural colours and accessories that bring a touch of the outside indoors, without bringing in the cold or rain, creates a strong style at your home. During winter, it is natural that people want to stay inside warm and cosy, so adding a touch of nature around a room should keep a balance and prevent people from becoming too cocooned in their indoor environment.

With house plants also being in fashion this winter, you can see that you can combine emerald green and nature in a very easy manner by adding some plants to your home at this time of year.

Tiling is a trend that never goes away but the style of the most popular tiles vary from year to year. In the winter of 2017, intricate designs, perhaps with geometric shapes, are very much in bogue, so you can be more creative with your tiling this year. This style of tiling is suitable for traditional and modern styles so you should find that there is an option ready for you, no matter what overall look you want to achieve at home this year.

Another option to consider in the winter of 2017 is velvet, and you’d think this would be a great option for every winter. This is a soft and warm material, which is sure to add to the welcoming feeling you will want to create at home this winter. Red is a colour that works tremendously well with velvet, so feel free to add this option around the home.

You will hopefully find some tips that you can use to create a new sense of style at your home this winter but never forget to retain a sense of personal style as well. Combining your own tastes with a touch or two of the latest trends can help you create a home that you love.

  • " I've dealt with some horrible agencies whilst renting in the past but I am glad we had Jezzards as our last. Didn't know that someone so professional and understanding and true to it's word existed in the business. I locked myself out once and they were there in  20 mins to assist. Heating stopped in the night and their out of hours assistance helped sort us out. Any problems or issues, were very promptly and effectively dealt with...I didn't even have to chase them. Our exit was quick, refunds took some time due to overlooked issues, which Victoria Jezzard looked into personally, and all done in 3 days. Dorathy was our handler and she was ace!! "
